Colin’s Hope – This Is Our Story

April 6, 2020 |

*Parents, we recommend watching this video with your child/teen since it discusses the events surrounding Colin’s death.

Colin’s Hope is a water safety and drowning prevention organization started by a local Austin family after their 4-year-old, Colin, drown in a public life-guarded pool with family and friends nearby the day after he finished swim lessons. In the search for answers, they discovered some startling statistics: Drowning is the #1 cause of unintentional injury-related death in children under 5 and a leading cause for children up to 14. Yet, drowning is PREVENTABLE. They started this education and awareness nonprofit to prevent other families from unnecessarily experiencing the same tragedy.

Over a decade later, we have become one of the leading experts in water safety and drowning prevention both locally and nationally. We partner with the community, other nonprofits, and government, health, and aquatic professionals to bring practical water safety education to children, families, and caregivers. We envision a world where children do not drown.
