Athlete Ambassadors Raise Pledges for Drowning Prevention

October 10, 2017 | Community Impact

September was a busy month for Colin’s Hope Athlete Ambassadors of all ages. The annual Colin’s Hope Kids Triathlon and Colin’s Hope Got2Swim 10K events were a huge success, raising over $45,000 for drowning prevention and water safety awareness!

SEPTEMBER 10, 2017 – COLIN’S HOPE KIDS TRIATHLON

CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all of our athletes (and their families) for participating in the 9th Annual Colin’s Hope Kids Triathlon. These amazing Triathletes raised more than $15,000 in pledges! Thank you! Colin’s Hope is overwhelmed to see the number of kids who took part in this race day to honor another child/family who has experienced a drowning. Many heartfelt thank you’s have been sent from their families already as they have seen photos of the athletes racing in their child’s honor. Finally, please join us in thanking the wonderful volunteer Race Director – Barrett Criswell, his volunteer race committee, sponsors, and volunteer crew for their donation of time, talent and resources. The Colin’s Hope Kids Tri depends on their generous support, time, talent, heart and yes-sweat! Colin’s Hope is humbled by all they give to help get athletes safely across the finish line!

SEPTEMBER 24, 2017 – COLIN’S HOPE GOT2SWIM 10K – LAKE TRAVIS

The Colin’s Hope team is PROUD of each of our swimmers, water guardians, safety team, and volunteers for making the Got2Swim a BEST DAY EVER! Thank you to all who gave both in and out of the water. Together, we conquered 10K miles swimming in Lake Travis, and raised so much awareness and almost $30,000 to help prevent drowning!

Thank you to all of you who gave their time, talent, and treasure to make this day simply amazing. These athletes swam to celebrate lives lost and nearly lost to drowning. They raised awareness and funds to prevent drowning. They are so important to Colin’s Hope and our vision of a world where no one drowns. Again, thank you. For more photos of the event, check out the 2017 Got2Swim photo album.

As always, every dollar raised through the Kids Tri and Got2Swim will go a very long way in our efforts to help prevent children from drowning 365 days a year through Water Safety Card creation and distribution, water safety classes, swim lessons, drowning prevention presentations, and life jackets for Life Jacket Loaner Stations. Thank you to all who have supported our Athlete Ambassadors! We couldn’t do this great work without you.
