Water Safety Lesson: How To Go Swimming

Five family water safety rules from The Whole Hand Rules to teach your preschool-aged kids.
Teach your kids to know and do all five of these behaviors before going near a pool, boat or other water.
  1. Wait for a grown-up
  2. Wear a life-jacket
  3. Only grown-ups should open barriers
  4. A grown-up should watch you
  5. Learn to swim

These water safety rules are part of the “layers of protection” that prevent childhood drowning.
