Colin’s Hope Participates in Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade

Colin’s Hope helped to lead the pack at the annual Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade. Each year, Chuy’s Restaurant hosts this event to collect brand new toys and donate them to Operation Blue Santa.

Alongside The Expedition School, The Central Texas Water Safety Coalition, Safe Kids Austin and over 50 volunteers from Westlake High School’s National Honor Society, Young Men’s Service League, and The National Charity League, Colin’s Hope marched in life jackets to promote the importance of water safety year-round to 80,000 attendees.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and participants! We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

United Way for Greater Austin Distributes Water Safety Cards

United Way for Greater Austin has partnered with Colin’s Hope to distribute water safety cards to over 3,200 families. Laura Olson and the Success By 6 team put in tremendous effort to connect Colin’s Hope with organizations that primarily serve families with children under 5.

In addition to distributing water safety cards, United Way:

  • Has identified partners that could distribute the Colin’s Hope Water Safety Quiz to families with young children
  • Has connected Colin’s Hope to partners that would assist in sharing water safety awareness information, including Child’s Inc., KLRU, the Literacy Coalition, and the AISD Early Childhood program
  • Has offered to recruit volunteers to aid in distribution of water safety cards via their volunteer channels
  • Will assist in any Spanish translations of Colin’s Hope material
  • Will assist with developing a next level of outreach and education for summer camp providers/staff in low-income communities, and
  • Will create a 2017 outreach plan with Colin’s Hope to connect with even MORE families next year!

Thank you to Laura Olson and United Way for all the work they have contributed to water safety!
